Dr. Amin is board certified in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry. Dr. Amin earned his medical degree at America’s medical school (Uniformed Services University) in Bethesda, Maryland. He then completed residency in internal medicine and psychiatry at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Amin has been serving in the military for over 18 years and as a physician since 2009.
Dr. Amin’s philosophy is to treat individuals holistically by focusing on body (biology), mind (psychology), and their environment (sociology). He emphasizes the impact of early childhood trauma and adversities utilizing Dynamic theory. In addition to medications (if needed), his patients should expect some elements of cognitive or dynamic therapy interventions during each visit.
He treats individuals diagnosed with depression, anxiety, insomnia, ADHD, and other psychiatric conditions. His personal interests are helping patients suffering from anxiety, low self-esteem and perfectionist traits. Professional interests include training primary care in psychiatry and academic engagement with medical students and physicians in training.
