I earned my doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Loyola University of Maryland and had the honor and privilege of serving as an Army Psychologist for 5 years prior to opening my private practice. I completed my internship and post-doctoral training at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where I gained specialized training in trauma treatment. Prior to my work at Walter Reed, I trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at the Baltimore VA Hospital where I worked with a variety of clients including many victims of Military Sexual Assault. In my private practice, I see individuals with trauma backgrounds, in addition to individuals with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and overwhelming stress. When I am not treating clients, I enjoy teaching, networking, and serving on the board of the Maryland Psychological Association.
I am a clinical psychologist providing psychotherapy for adults and adolescents in Kensington, MD. I specialize in helping individuals work through painful memories and overwhelming emotions from their past that prevent them from moving forward. I have had many rewarding experiences with clients dealing with excessive worry, overwhelming stressors, irritability, emotional numbing, low self-esteem, sleep problems, difficulty with relationships, and life transitions. While I am trained to work with individuals with many diagnoses, I have had specialized training in treating various types of trauma.
I believe that the great benefit of therapy is to go beyond reducing symptoms, and to gain insight into why those symptoms are present so you can gently resolve them at a deeper level. My integrated approach combines complementary and effective interventions from the best treatments to offer a highly personalized experience tailored to the needs of each client. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Insight Oriented and Interpersonal Therapies as well as trauma treatments such as Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
Clients I have worked with describe me as warm, comforting, and highly competent. I truly enjoy the work that I do and that is often translated into a genuine experience for each of my clients. I look forward to the opportunity to experience the same with you.
